Being invited to speak at the World Literacy Summit at Oxford, UK, next year is an immense privilege and an exciting opportunity.

Hi, I’m Tanya – a passionate literacy advocate and researcher dedicated to enriching reading experiences for learners of all ages.

Literacy Advocate   –   Reading  Researcher      –    Writer           –         Educator

My career in education started at a middle primary school teacher in Queensland. My Bachelor of Education degree provided opportunities to teach in the UK, NZ and all over Australia.  For 12 years I ran a  successful tutoring business in Sydney, catering to Years 2 to 10.  These experiences saw a pattern of boys lagging behind girls in the area of literacy.  This led to classroom research, writing content for and then creating a unique, world-first reading program dedicated solely to boys: Literacy for Boys.  I have written numerous articles for Education Review, The Educator, the Australian Boarding Schools Association, EdTech websites and appeared in interviews on  national tv and radio programs.

The success of our Literacy for Boys program led to the development of Literacy for KiLiteracy For Kids now available for schoolsds.  It has been our data-proven results with improving literacy in Australian and NZ primary and secondary schools that led to our invitation to join the World Literacy Taskforce.

The World Literacy Summit is the world’s largest gathering of international literacy specialists, including NGO leaders, researchers, academics, teachers, professors, literacy entrepreneurs, and ,government representatives.  To be invited to speak at this prestigious event in Oxford, UK, in April 2025 is an honour and a testament to my advocacy for enhancing literacy for learners of all ability levels. I genuinely cannot wait to connect with other literacy illuminaries!
